Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
Your Kenya safari adventure begins in Nairobi, where your professional driver-guide meets you at your hotel at around 8:00 am. After a short briefing, you depart for the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most famous wildlife reserve.
The drive takes you through the dramatic Great Rift Valley, one of Africa’s most impressive natural features. You stop at a scenic viewpoint to admire sweeping views of the valley floor and surrounding escarpments before continuing toward the Maasai heartland.
Arriving in Masai Mara around lunchtime, you check in at your tented camp and enjoy a relaxed lunch. Later in the afternoon, you head out for your first game drive. This is often when the magic begins — lions resting under acacia trees, elephants moving across the plains, and herds of wildebeest and zebras grazing in golden light.
You return to camp in the early evening.
Dinner and overnight: Basecamp Masai Mara
Drive time: Approx. 5.5 hours
Day 2: Full Day Safari in Masai Mara
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s top safari destinations. You enjoy two game drives — one early in the morning and another in the late afternoon.
Early mornings are perfect for spotting predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs while they are most active. After breakfast and some rest time at the camp, you head out again in the afternoon when wildlife activity increases as temperatures cool.
Because this is a private safari, your schedule is flexible. You may choose to enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch instead, allowing you to venture deeper into the reserve without returning to camp midday.
Throughout the day, your guide will aim to show you not only the Big Five but also other iconic species, sometimes referred to as the Big Nine, making the experience both exciting and educational.
Dinner and overnight: Basecamp Masai Mara
Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, you depart Masai Mara and travel toward Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake set in the Rift Valley. The journey offers changing scenery, from open savannahs to lush highland landscapes.
You arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, followed by a relaxed afternoon at leisure. Lake Naivasha is known for its peaceful atmosphere, abundant birdlife, and resident wildlife such as waterbucks, giraffes, and warthogs roaming the grounds.
For those seeking an extra experience, you may opt for a Lake Naivasha boat safari at an additional cost. This one-hour excursion offers close views of hippos and water birds, along with stunning views of the lake and surrounding hills.
Dinner and overnight: Lake Naivasha Country Club
Day 4: Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing around 9:00 am for Lake Nakuru National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Kenya’s most important conservation areas.
Lake Nakuru is famous as a rhino sanctuary, offering excellent chances to see both black and white rhinos. It is also home to Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, and occasionally leopards. The lake itself attracts a wide variety of bird species, making it a paradise for bird lovers.
After lunch at your lodge, you head out for an afternoon game drive. You explore different habitats within the park, including wooded areas, open grasslands, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the lake — perfect for photography.
You return to your lodge in the evening.
Dinner and overnight: Flamingo Hill Tented Camp
(or Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or similar, subject to availability)
Day 5: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi
Your final safari day begins with an early morning game drive, offering one last opportunity to spot wildlife in the cool morning light. After breakfast and check-out, you begin the drive back to Nairobi.
You make brief stops along the Rift Valley escarpment to stretch your legs and enjoy final scenic views. Arrival in Nairobi is in the early afternoon, followed by drop-off at your hotel or transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
This marks the end of your unforgettable 5 Days Kenya Safari.
